Acai Pulp

I recently talked about why it’s darn near impossible to get fresh acai berries other than within a couple hundred miles of the Amazon rainforest.

Today I wanted to talk about the closest thing you can get to the fresh acai berry – acai pulp.

In terms of acai supplements, it’s one of the most expensive but it’s probably also the highest quality.

Acai Pulp Products

There aren’t very many pure acai pulp or puree makers – probably because it doesn’t taste all that good by itself. Here are five of the best ones I could find:

Acai Roots

Amazon Thunder

Sambazon Original Acai

Acai Raw

Acai Twist

While it may not taste good by itself (many of the pulps and purees are really sour), it can take a smoothie and make it amazing – here’s one of my favorite recipes (they’re using a frozen puree from Acai Roots in the video):

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=06JnY00xVD4

Raw Acai

As a former raw foodist myself, I wanted to know if I could find a truly raw source for the acai berry. As it turns out, there’s one and so far only one I could find. It’s called Acai Raw and it’s not easy stuff to come by. The supplier for it had a six week waiting list for the product last time I stopped by. However, this is probably the very least amount of processing you’ll find in any acai product short of having a fresh acai bowl in Brazil.
